Pondicherry University Launches Free Inclusive UPSC Coaching Programme for PWDs

Puducherry, May 2025 : Pondicherry University has announced a landmark initiative aimed at empowering persons with disabilities (PWDs) by offering a free 12-month UPSC coaching programme, to be conducted in physical mode on the university campus. The programme is jointly organized by the Higher Education for Persons with Special Needs (HEPSN) and the Centre for Study of Social Inclusion (CSSI) of Pondicherry University, with financial backing from the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPWD) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.

The inaugural ceremony of the programme is scheduled for 29th May 2025 at the university campus. The initiative aims to create equitable opportunities in civil services for PWD candidates by offering free expert coaching, accommodation for outstation participants, a Rs. 6,000 monthly stipend, and access to the university’s 24×7 accessible library.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Annual family income below Rs. 8 lakh
  • Persons with Disabilities aged 20–41 years
  • Must possess a UDID Card
  • Must have completed a degree or be in the final semester

Application Process:

Interested candidates must apply by 25th May 2025 through the Google Form link: https://forms.gle/7GrACguPiRVrWHfY8, uploading all required documents. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.

Stipend disbursement will be based on regular attendance, monitored via Aadhaar-based biometric tracking. Classes are expected to begin by late May or early June 2025.

The initiative is coordinated by Dr. A. Chidambaram (HEPSN), with Dr. G. Madan Mohan, Professor, Department of Management Studies, serving as the Programme Coordinator.
