18th Foundation Day Celebrated at Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya

The 18th Foundation Day Celebration of Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (GGV)—a Central University accredited with NAAC A++ Grade—was held on 15 January 2026 at Rajat Jayanti Sabhagar (Hall No. 1). The programme commenced at 10:30 a.m. and marked the 18th anniversary of the University’s upgradation as a Central University, coinciding with the celebration of Makar Sankranti.

The Distinguished Guest on the occasion was Shri Vinay Kumar Prasad, Divisional Head, Bilaspur Postal Division. Presiding over the ceremony, the In-charge Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Amit Kumar Saxena, extended his greetings to all attendees. He highlighted the positive transformation and steady progress achieved by the University under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Alok Kumar Chakrawal since its upgradation. Prof. Saxena also expressed hope that, in collaboration with India Post, a fully equipped post office would soon be established on the University campus.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Vinay Kumar Prasad congratulated the University community on the occasion of Makar Sankranti and the unveiling of the special postal cover. He shared insights into the achievements and evolving services of India Post, and elaborated on initiatives of the Ministry, including the concept of the Gen-Z Post Office.
Earlier, the dignitaries inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp and offering floral tributes to the portraits of Maa Saraswati, Chhattisgarh Mahtari, and Baba Guru Ghasidas. The Tarang Band presented a soulful Saraswati Vandana and the University Kulgeet, adding cultural grace to the ceremony. The dignitaries were welcomed with saplings, and the welcome address was delivered by the Programme Convener and Dean of Student Welfare, Prof. Shailendra Kumar.
The guests were felicitated with shawls, shriphals, and mementoes. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Registrar, Prof. Ashwini Kumar Dixit, while the proceedings were conducted by Dr. Garima Tiwari. The event witnessed the presence of Deans of various Schools, Heads of Departments, faculty members, officers, staff, research scholars, and students.
