Assures Full Support for Growth

Varanasi :Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi reaffirmed the university’s commitment to the development of its South Campus at Barkachha, assuring that “funds will not be an issue for the growth of BHU and its members.”

During his first visit to the South Campus after assuming office, Prof. Chaturvedi interacted with faculty members and praised the immense resources and talent of the campus. He encouraged teachers to submit development proposals and adopt an institution-centric approach, while stressing teamwork and a positive outlook to resolve challenges.

The Vice-Chancellor urged faculty to strengthen internal communication by using official BHU email IDs and to focus on identifying the root causes of issues for effective solutions. He assured that most concerns—including the establishment of a health centre, better schooling facilities, allocation of Ph.D. scholars, and seniority considerations—fall within BHU’s purview and can be addressed within a reasonable timeframe.

Delivering the welcome address, Prof. V. K. Mishra, Professor-in-Charge, highlighted key developments such as:

  • Enhanced hostel capacity to accommodate 600 additional students, ensuring housing for all.
  • Full Wi-Fi coverage, now extended to Teachers’ Flats.
  • Increased remuneration for contractual teachers.
  • Proposals for new infrastructure, including an indoor stadium, solar park, and skill development courses under Deendayal Upadhyaya Kaushal Vikas Kendra.

Presentations were made by Prof. Amit Raj Gupta (Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences), outlining plans to upgrade two units into full-fledged departments, and Prof. Sriram Singh (Krishi Vigyan Kendra), who highlighted KVK’s role in agricultural growth and farmer empowerment.

The Vice-Chancellor later met hostel wardens and stressed the importance of close teacher–student engagement, calling for prompt redressal of student issues and elimination of communication gaps.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Anchitya Singhal, while Dr. Archana Mahapatra conducted the proceedings.
