IMU Navi Mumbai Celebrates Passing Out Parade 2025 with Grand Ceremony and Cadet Honours

Navi Mumbai : Indian Maritime University’s Navi Mumbai Campus (T S Chanakya) held its Passing Out Parade Ceremony for 2025 on 16th May 2025, celebrating the achievements of 182 graduate cadets and 40 diploma cadets from the School of Nautical Studies.

Shri Vikas Narwal, IAS, Managing Director of Indian Ports Association and an alumnus of T S Chanakya, graced the event as Chief Guest. The ceremony began with a guard of honour by cadets and a warm welcome by Capt. A.K. Majumdar, Head of Department.

Capt. Mihir Chandra, Campus Director, addressed the gathering, urging cadets to dream big with open eyes, quoting former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. He highlighted campus milestones from 2024-25, including:

  • Foundation stone for a new academic block laid by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of IMU.
  • ANGLOTHON: National English Language Proficiency Competition.
  • Marine safety awareness initiatives for Agri-Koli fishermen.
  • Cloud Kitchen entrepreneurship programme for village women (in collaboration with TISS).
  • Launch of a girls’ cricket team and boxing matches for cadets.
  • National Maritime Sports inaugurated by Olympian P.T. Usha.

The event honoured cadets for excellence:

  • Queen Top Award: Cadet Deepak Saini
  • Best Attendance: B.Sc (NS) Cadet Parvathy Manoj and DNS Cadet Prashant
  • Best Sportsperson: Cadet Shubham Tiwari (INR 20,000 prize presented by Shri Vedatma Kriti in memory of Prof. V.N. Singh)
  • Shining Star Award: Cadet Rajbir Singh, awarded by alumni Mr. Priyadarshi Bhaskar and Mr. Anish Kapoor
  • Cadet of the Year 2025: Winner – Shubham Tiwari, Runner-up – Deepak Saini

The Chief Guest reminisced about his time at T S Chanakya and encouraged cadets to value friendship and camaraderie throughout their careers. He concluded with an inspiring message: “Be riders of wave and shine bright.”

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Imtiaz Ahmad, Deputy Registrar (Admin), followed by a networking dinner — marking a memorable milestone in the journey of future maritime professionals.
