Professor Phanithi Prakash Babu Assumes Office as Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University

Puducherry, 17th March 2025: Professor Phanithi Prakash Babu officially assumed office as the Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University today, following his appointment by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu. The appointment, made under Statute 1(A) of the Pondicherry University Act, 1985, was communicated by the Ministry of Education on 6th March 2025.

Upon taking charge, Professor Babu made a courtesy visit to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Puducherry, Shri N. Rangasamy, at the Legislative Assembly. Following the meeting, he addressed all the Deans and Heads of Departments at the University campus, sharing his vision for the institution’s growth and academic excellence.

Professor Phanithi Prakash Babu’s appointment marks a significant step in the university’s journey toward enhancing its academic stature and research capabilities.
