Vet Varsity Secures ₹25 Lakh MSME Project to Boost Dairy Entrepreneurship in Punjab
Ludhiana | Campuskatta News : The Department of Livestock Production Management, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, has earned a prestigious project worth ₹24.80 lakh from the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
The sanctioned project, titled “Advanced Entrepreneurship, Skill and Management Development Programmes on Dairy Farming,” aims to strengthen entrepreneurial capacity and scientific expertise among dairy farmers.
🐄 Enhancing Skills of Dairy Farmers
Congratulating the project team, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jatinder Paul Singh Gill highlighted that the initiative will significantly enhance the knowledge and entrepreneurial skills of both new and existing dairy farmers, ensuring long-term sustainability of Punjab’s dairy industry.

He further emphasized that the MSME sector plays a crucial role in maintaining economic stability by promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, and balanced regional development. Under this project, trainees will receive hands-on experiential learning to upgrade skills related to:
- Scientific and precision dairy farming
- Value addition in dairy products
- Marketing and supply chain management

Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, Director of Research, stated that the project aims to usher in a new era of entrepreneurship by leveraging advanced technologies in dairy production and processing.
Dr. R.S. Grewal, Director of Extension Education, noted that the MSME sector provides a strong platform for entrepreneurship, driven by individual creativity and innovation.
Echoing similar views, Dr. Swaran Singh Randhawa, Dean, College of Veterinary Science, remarked that MSME-backed initiatives could be revolutionary for dairy entrepreneurs, especially in adopting scientific and precision dairy farming using modern technologies.

Dr. Yashpal Singh, Head of the Department, informed that MSMEs offer a vital forum for experimentation and innovation, supporting women, youth, and marginalized entrepreneurs through financial assistance, training, and policy incentives. These efforts help generate market-oriented products and services catering to both local and global demands.
