Professor C. Raghava Reddy, Head of the Centre for Knowledge, Culture and Innovation Studies (CKCIS) and Professor in the Department of Sociology, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad (UoH), has been nominated as a Member of the Advisory Committee on Impact Assessment and Public Policy at the National Innovation Foundation–India (NIF).
The National Innovation Foundation–India is an autonomous institution under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, mandated to nurture grassroots innovations and traditional knowledge systems across the country.

Strengthening Evidence-Based Innovation Policy
The nomination recognises Prof. Reddy’s long-standing expertise in Science, Technology and Society (STS) studies, institutional mechanisms for inclusive development, and technology–society interfaces, which align closely with NIF’s mission of evidence-based innovation governance and policy formulation.
The newly constituted Advisory Committee will provide strategic guidance to strengthen NIF’s impact assessment frameworks, improve methodologies, and enhance public policy engagement at national and sub-national levels.
Academic and Research Contributions
Prof. Raghava Reddy is a distinguished sociologist with research expertise spanning:
- Science, Technology and Society Studies (STS)
- Sociology of Disability
- Sociology of Organizations
- Agricultural knowledge production
- Technology and social inclusion
He has published extensively in reputed academic journals including Sociological Bulletin, Gender, Technology and Development, and Indian Anthropologist. His research addresses critical issues such as disability discourse, women’s labour in plant tissue culture, and social constructivist approaches to crop sciences.
Prof. Reddy has also led several UGC-funded major research projects, including studies on contesting crop sciences and enabling persons with disabilities in rural Andhra Pradesh. Currently, he coordinates the DST–Centre for Policy Research (CPR) at the University of Hyderabad, in addition to leading CKCIS.

- Generating policy-relevant evidence
- Supporting programme improvement
