University of Hyderabad to Organise Popular Talks for School Students
On occasion of ‘100 Years of Quantum Mechanics’
Hyderabad :
The School of Physics, University of Hyderabad (UoH) will organise popular science talks for 9th to 12th grade school students as part of a national-level conference titled ‘100 Years of Quantum Mechanics’ (HYQM-2026). The conference will be held on January 23 and 24, 2026, at the University of Hyderabad campus, Gachibowli.
The two-day conference is designed to engage multiple academic audiences. While Day-1 (January 23) is dedicated to undergraduate, postgraduate students, and researchers in physics, the second half of Day-2 (January 24, from 2 pm to 5 pm) will exclusively cater to school students from Classes 9 to 12, especially those studying physics and calculus under MPC/MBiPC streams.

The initiative aims to introduce fundamental ideas of quantum mechanics to young learners at an early stage and spark curiosity about modern physics. Quantum Mechanics, one of the most influential branches of physics, forms the foundation of technologies such as semiconductors, lasers, and quantum computing.
Renowned physicists Prof. Soumitra Sengupta, Prof. Parthasarathi Majumdar, and Prof. Jayanta Kumar Bhattacharjee will deliver popular-level lectures on topics including:
- The road to uncertainty – A survey from classical to quantum physics
- Microsolar electricity generation and applications: How we all can!
- Quantum mechanics for high school students
The organisers have announced that registrations for school students are limited and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Interested school and junior college students are encouraged to visit the official poster available on the University of Hyderabad website and register online on or before January 20, 2026 through the provided Google Form.
