University of Hyderabad Hosts 21 German University Delegation to Strengthen Academic Ties
Hyderabad : The University of Hyderabad (UoH) welcomed a 21-member delegation of German universities, led by Vice Chancellors and Vice Presidents, through the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The visit marks a significant milestone in fostering Indo-German academic collaborations and advancing internationalization in higher education. Key members of the delegation included Dr Katja Lasch, Director of DAAD India, and Dr Kai Sicks, DAAD General Secretary.



Professor B J Rao, Vice Chancellor of UoH, greeted the delegates and highlighted the university’s mission, academic strengths, and global partnerships. He emphasized the growing importance of international collaborations, including joint degrees.
Professor Brahmanandam Manavathi, Director of UoH’s Office for International Affairs, discussed the university’s internationalization initiatives, particularly the “Study in India” program, which began in 1998 with only 8 students. Faculty members also showcased research projects, as the delegation explored potential collaborations in areas such as joint research, dual degree opportunities, and student-faculty exchanges.
The visit included a tour of UoH’s state-of-the-art facilities across various departments, including life sciences, engineering, and computer sciences.
