University Institute of Allied Health and Paramedical Sciences celebrates Freshers’ Party – Ignite 2K25
Faridkot : The University Institute of Allied Health & Paramedical Sciences, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), celebrated the Freshers Party – IGNITE 2K25 with great enthusiasm and zeal. The event welcomed new students into the academic community, fostering camaraderie and joy among students and faculty members.



Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rajeev Sood, BFUHS, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, Dr Sood shared intriguing insights, emphasizing the importance of extracurricular activities in student life, recalling nostalgic moments of cultural festivities from his childhood. He lauded the freshers for their enthusiastic participation and congratulated the organizers for orchestrating a spectacular event. He also highlighted the remarkable progress of the University Institute of Allied Health & Paramedical Sciences, which was transformed into a full-fledged institute under the leadership of Dr Jasbir Kaur.
“This institute is aligned with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, focusing on skilling and innovation in allied health sciences. The newly formed Council of Allied Sciences has initiated key reforms, and we are determined to contribute to Bharat@100, envisioning India’s global leadership by 2047,” he added.
Dr Jasbir Kaur, Principal, University Institute of Allied Health & Paramedical Sciences, expressed her gratitude to Dr Sood for his visionary leadership. She highlighted the consolidation of various paramedical courses under a single umbrella, stating, “Under our institute, we now offer 8 Certificate courses, 12 Diplomas, 5 PG Diplomas, 13 B Sc degrees, 12 M Sc and around about 20 nontraditional courses. Our students are securing excellent placements, and we are organizing additional placement drives to enhance career opportunities.”
Dr Kaur also announced the commencement of the M Sc in Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology (MRIT), making the institute the second in Punjab, after PGIMER, Chandigarh, to offer this course in a government setup. She further mentioned the expansion of skill development programs, with HSDC Faridkot running successfully and HSDC Patiala now under university administration, with HSDC Amritsar expected to follow soon.
The event witnessed vibrant cultural performances, including traditional Punjabi Gidha and Bhangra, which enthralled the audience. The highlight of the evening was the crowning of Arman as Mr Fresher and Anmol as Miss Fresher.
The celebration was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Dr R K Gorea, Registrar, BFUHS, Dr Deepak J Bhatti, Dean Colleges, Dr Rohit Chopra, Additional Registrar, Dr Sanjay Gupta, Principal, Dr Neetu Kukar, Medical Superintendent, along with faculty members and students.
A special presentation by students of the Panchkarma Technician course at BFUHS Skill Centre added a unique touch to the event. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr Sood was presented with Ayurvedic and chemical-free summer drinks, handmade soap, and herbal hair oil, showcasing the integration of traditional knowledge with modern healthcare practices.
The Freshers Party – IGNITE 2K25 concluded on a high note, leaving the students inspired and motivated for the journey ahead. The event reinforced the university’s commitment to holistic education, blending academic excellence with cultural enrichment.
