Union Minister Dr Sukanta Majumdar Visit to University of Hyderabad
Honouring Excellence: A Boost to Academic Excellence
Hyderabad : The University of Hyderabad had the honour of hosting Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Education, Government of India, Dr Sukanta Majumdar, on his visit to its campus on 13th November 2024. Dr Majumdar interacted with the Vice Chancellor Prof B J Rao, Registrar, Dr Devesh Nigam, Deans of the Schools, and Heads of Departments/Centres. Prof Ghanashyam Krishna, Director-Institution of Eminence (IoE) gave a brief presentation on the implementation and progress of the IoE scheme at the university.
During his interaction, Dr Majumdar emphasized the importance of quality education and innovation in shaping the future of the nation. He applauded the university’s efforts in achieving excellence in research, academics, and community outreach. The Minister also discussed the government’s initiatives to promote education and skills development, aligning with the university’s vision. Dr Majumdar visited the ASPIRE BioNest incubation facility (Knowledge-based incubator in Life Sciences) and interacted with the startups in their area of research and also had a first-hand account on some of their innovations.
Later the Hon’ble Minister planted a sapling in the campus as part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam‘ campaign, a unique initiative combining environmental responsibility with a heartfelt tribute to mothers.
The university community has benefited greatly from Dr Majumdar’s expertise and guidance. His visit reinforced the university’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and social responsibility. The visit marked a significant milestone in the university’s journey towards achieving eminence and making a positive impact on society.
