The Central University of Odisha mourns the death of former Union Minister Dr Debendra Pradhan

Koraput : The Central University of Odisha (CUO) expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Dr Debendra Pradhan, former Union Minister and a distinguished political leader, who is also the father of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

As a mark of respect, CUO Vice-Chancellor Prof Chakradhar Tripathi, along with senior faculty members Prof N C Panda, Prof Rathikant Kumbhar, Prof Bharat Kumar Panda, and Dr Ashok Kumar Sahu, paid floral tribute to Dr Pradhan’s portrait and observed a two-minute silence in the university campus.

Recalling his association with Dr Pradhan, Prof Tripathi highlighted the late leader’s invaluable contributions to the nation. He described him as a statesman of integrity who served as a Union Minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. “His passing is a great loss to the country. He was a leader of high moral values and unwavering dedication to public service,” Prof Tripathi remarked.

Extending condolences to Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the bereaved family, Prof Tripathi lauded Dr Pradhan’s legacy of selfless service.

Faculty members, staff, and students also paid tribute during the solemn occasion. The program was coordinated by CUO Public Relations Officer Dr Phagunath Bhoi.
