Tezpur University Hosts International Webinar on “Universality of Yoga for Health and Progress”
Tezpur : In celebration of the upcoming International Yoga Day 2025, Tezpur University’s Centre for Yoga and Sports Sciences organized a thought-provoking international webinar titled “Universality of Yoga for Health and Progress.” The event brought together global experts and participants to explore the transformative role of yoga in fostering holistic well-being.
The inaugural address was delivered by Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Tezpur University, who highlighted yoga’s rich roots in Bharat’s knowledge traditions. He emphasized that yoga is not merely a form of physical exercise, but a complete lifestyle that nurtures mental, spiritual, and social wellness.
Renowned yoga scholar Prof. Ishwar Bhardwaj from Dev Sanskriti University and former Dean of Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar, delivered the keynote address. He spoke on yoga’s holistic and therapeutic nature, asserting its ability to address the root causes of modern life challenges and awaken deeper self-awareness.

The seminar commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Robin Dutta, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, who contextualized the event’s theme with the 2025 International Yoga Day motto: “Yoga for One World, One Health.”
Prof. Papori Baruah, Head of the Centre for Yoga and Sports Sciences, shared that 16 research papers were presented during the webinar, offering deep insights into yoga’s applications in physical, mental, and spiritual domains.

The event featured distinguished speakers and researchers from India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Australia, and the USA. Contributors represented leading institutions, including the University of Delhi, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Patanjali University, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, and Lakshmi Bai National Institute of Physical Education.
The webinar concluded with a resounding affirmation of yoga’s global relevance and potential to unify and heal in today’s divided and health-challenged world.
