Prof. G.S. Vaitheeswaran’s Prestigious Research Visit to NIMS, Japan

Hyderabad : Prof. G.S. Vaitheeswaran from the School of Physics, University of Hyderabad (UoH), has been selected for a prestigious research visit to the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Tsukuba, Japan, under the MANA (Materials Nanoarchitectonics) Scheme for 2026.

During his five-week visit from January 13 to February 20, 2026, Prof. Vaitheeswaran will collaborate with Prof. Kazunari Yamaura’s research group on Quantum Solid State Materials. This collaboration aims to advance the technological applications of these materials and foster a long-term research partnership between UoH and NIMS.

This recognition underscores Prof. Vaitheeswaran’s significant contributions to the field of materials science. It also opens new avenues for academic exchange and collaborative research, especially for Master’s and Ph.D. students from the School of Physics, enabling future research internships and international exposure at NIMS.

A recipient of prestigious awards such as the DAE Young Achiever Award, B.M. Birla Science Prize in Physics, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Prof. Vaitheeswaran is also listed among the Top 2% scientists globally by the Stanford University Survey for 2024. He currently serves as an Associate Editor of the Bulletin of Materials Science.

This international collaboration highlights the University of Hyderabad’s growing global footprint in research and innovation and reaffirms its commitment to fostering excellence and impactful scientific partnerships.
