NSUT Celebrates Academic Excellence with a Grand Convocation Ceremony

New Delhi : Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT) marked a momentous day as it hosted its Annual Convocation Ceremony, celebrating the achievements of its graduating students. The event was graced by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena, Chief Minister Atishi, distinguished dignitaries, faculty, students, and proud families.

The ceremony commenced with the Inauguration of 3 New Facilities by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. Starting with The Hydroponic Project, a premier training and research hub for hydroponic technology, which uses soilless media and controlled environments to significantly boost crop yields. The facility aims to empower local farmers and entrepreneurs to establish their own systems. The second project is an 8-lane, 400-meter Synthetic Athletic Track certified by World Athletics, enabling NSUT to host national and international events. Additionally, a 550 KLD Sewage Treatment Plant using vermi-filter technology has been launched, contributing to NSUT’s recognition as a Zero Waste Institution by MCD in 2024. His presence added to the grandeur of the event, symbolizing the university’s commitment to advancing academic infrastructure and fostering holistic development.

Following the inauguration, the arrival of dignitaries, including the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, the Hon’ble Chancellor, distinguished alumni, and other prominent figures, marked the beginning of the day’s proceedings. They were warmly welcomed by university officials before the Academic Procession, led by the Vice Chancellor and faculty members, moved ceremoniously towards the dais. The event began with the traditional Lamp Lighting ceremony, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment, followed by the presentation of bouquets and mementoes to the esteemed guests.

The audience then rose for the National Song, invoking a sense of pride and unity. With the formalities in place, the Convocation was declared open by the Hon’ble Chancellor.The next highlight was the Signing of the Scroll of Degrees, symbolizing the conferment of academic qualifications to deserving candidates.

This was followed by the Vice Chancellor’s presentation of the University Report, outlining the institution’s achievements, milestones, and future plans in which he mentioned that NSUT has introduced a B Tech in Electronics Engineering with a specialization in VLSI Design and Technology, aligning with India’s Semiconductor Mission. In 2023, NSUT faculty published 762 SCOPUS-indexed research papers, with 602 papers already published in 2024, many addressing Sustainable Development Goals. Eleven faculty members were named in Stanford’s Top 2% Scientist Database, and Prof Senani received the IETE Life Time Achievement Award. Additionally, NSUT signed 14 MoUs in 2023-24 to strengthen industry partnerships.

Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT) is proud to have built a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship on campus. The NSUT Incubation and Innovation Center, supported by Rs. 10 crore from the Atal Incubation Centre and Rs. 5 crore from the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme, currently nurtures over 40 startups. The newly approved Drone Centre of Excellence will align with the Namo Drone Didi scheme to empower rural women with drone technology skills.

Additionally, NSUT offers specialized MBA and BBA programs in Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Venture Development, creating a complete ecosystem for student entrepreneurs. NSUT’s Centre of Excellence in AI is enhancing healthcare in rural areas through partnerships with hospitals. An MoU with TERI will apply AI to address energy challenges, and a new Industry 4.0 Centre of Excellence will support MSMEs and student training.

NSUT has achieved strong rankings, including 57th in the NIRF and 2nd in the Times Engineering Rankings. Despite a challenging hiring environment, 81% of registered students were placed in top companies this year. With 306 companies visiting, some students also pursued entrepreneurship or higher studies, highlighting the university’s impact. He then went onto highlight the extracurricular activities. NSUT students have achieved remarkable accolades across various prestigious platforms.

The Debating Society secured three outstanding awards at the Singapore Model United Nations, hosted by the National University of Singapore, one of the largest Asia-Pacific MUN conferences with over 1000 participants from 50+ countries. “Team Kalpana” were finalists in the INSPACe-ISRO “Design-Build-Launch” competition. NSS volunteer Anuj received a National Award from the Hon’ble President of India for his exemplary community service. Additionally, NSUT ranked 14th in Asia in the Global International Quant Championship, while the Chess Team secured 6th place at the North Zone Inter-University Tournament. NSUT also successfully hosted the North Zone Inter-University Table Tennis (Women) Tournament 2023-24.

The ceremony proceeded with the presentation of awards to meritorious students excelling in academics, research, and extracurricular activities, followed by inspiring speeches from distinguished alumni and student achievers, who shared their experiences and aspirations with the audience. A total of 34 gold medals out of which 3 were Chancellor Gold Medals and rest 31, Vice Chancellor Gold Medals were awarded to outstanding students in recognition of their exceptional academic achievements. The event also marked the distribution of 2258 degrees to both undergraduate and graduate students, celebrating their successful completion of various programs. In addition, 5 PhD degrees were conferred upon research scholars, highlighting the institution’s commitment to fostering advanced research and academic excellence.

The Convocation Address by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena was the highlight of the day, emphasizing the importance of innovation and leadership in the rapidly changing world. The Guest of Honor, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Ms Atishi then took the stage to deliver a thought-provoking address, inspiring students to contribute meaningfully to society. The Presidential Address by the Hon’ble Chancellor reiterated the university’s mission to nurture talent and foster a spirit of inquiry and excellence among students.

As the ceremony drew to a close, the graduates recited the Convocation Pledge, committing to uphold ethical values, lifelong learning, and service to society. The Convocation was formally declared closed, followed by the National Anthem and the Departure of the Academic Procession, leaving the atmosphere filled with a sense of accomplishment and celebration. The convocation ceremony at NSUT was a proud and joyous occasion, celebrating the achievements of the students and the university’s enduring commitment to academic excellence.
