National Law School of India University to Launch New Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Programme for 2025-26 Academic Year

Bengaluru : The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, is set to unveil its new Bachelor of Arts (Honours) programme for the upcoming 2025-26 academic year. The launch event will take place at 11:00 AM today at the Bangalore International Centre (BIC), Domlur, and promises to be a significant milestone in the University’s academic evolution. The NLS BA (Hons) programme is being introduced as part of NLSIU’s expansion into multidisciplinary education, complementing its renowned 5-year BA.LLB (Hons.) programme. Designed to combine academic learning with professional orientation, the undergraduate degree aims to provide pathways to diverse careers while also serving as a bridge to the university’s 3-Year LL.B. (Hons.) and Master’s Programme in Public Policy.

The launch event will feature key speakers including Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Krishnaswamy, Vice-Chancellor of NLSIU, Dr. Atreyee Majumder, Head of the NLS BA (Hons) Programme Committee; and Dr. Saurabh Bhattacharjee, Dean-Academics at NLSIU. Attendees will get an in-depth look at the programme’s key features, followed by the release of the programme’s digital brochure. A Q&A session will also provide an opportunity to address questions about the new degree offering.

This timely introduction of the BA (Hons) programme comes amid growing interest in undergraduate BA degrees, with a particular focus on careers in publishing, media, development practice, philanthropy, and the arts. The programme is built upon NLSIU’s existing faculty expertise in History, Sociology & Anthropology, Economics, and Politics, with plans to expand into other disciplines in the future.

As the University continues to set new standards in higher education, the NLS BA (Hons) programme is poised to play a significant role in shaping the future of its students and the broader academic community.
