NALSAR Gears Up for 2025 Semester with Senior Law Professors on Board

NALSAR welcomes Two Senior Professors – Dr. T.V.S.N. Prasad & Dr. Sitharamam Kakarala
NALSAR, University of Law is gearing for the semester starting January 2025 and welcomes two Senior Professors to the NALSAR family.

Andra Pradesh / Hydrabad :Professor Srikrishna Deva Rao, Vice Chancellor, NALSAR university said ‘these two appointments add great value to the academic world of NALSAR especially in the areas of teaching and research in the areas of Law, Human Rights and Public policy in the coming years’. Dr. TVSN Prasad, IAS; former Chief Secretary (Haryana) and State Finance Secretary has over 37 years of experience at the World Bank, Government, Public and Private Sectors. He has joined as the Distinguished Professor of Economics and Public Policy. With a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; a Master’s degree from Harvard University and a Doctorate in Economics from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He served as Lead Infrastructure Coordinator and Senior Economist at the World Bank in Washington DC for several years, crafting its policies in Africa on power, oil and gas sectors, national economic policies, investments, and infrastructure expansion. He joined the Indian Administrative Services in 1988 and served in several distinguished positions including the National Mission for Clean Ganga and as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs. He led groundbreaking initiatives, including setting up India’s first SDG Coordination Center and the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) project.

Prof Sitharamam Kakarla received his Ph.D. in Political Science, from the Centre for Social Studies, Surat; has an LLM in Human Rights Law from the University of Nottingham; and an MA in Political Philosophy from the University of Madras. He was the recipient of the British Chevening Fellowship in Human Rights Law (1995-96), and the Commonwealth Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Human Rights Law (2000-01) from Warwick Law School). As former faculty at Azim Premji University and National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, he has taught courses pertaining to Human Rights Law, Constitutionalism and several interdisciplinary legal studies.

He had taught various courses in interdisciplinary legal studies and political theory, law and culture, human rights law, comparative law and comparative constitutionalism. His area research interests include understanding postcolonial constitutionalism, especially the developments related to the languages of human rights in the global South, contemporary social and legal theory, and comparative studies.
