Nagaland University Scholar Shines in GO4Youth 2025 Green Olympiad

Lumami, May 22 – Shisak Sharma, a research scholar from the Department of Chemistry, Nagaland University (NU), has brought pride to the university by emerging as one of the Top Scorers in the GO4Youth 2025 Green Olympiad, a prestigious national-level competition on environmental awareness and sustainability conducted by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi.

Shisak secured an impressive 94% score, earning multiple accolades including a Certificate of Distinction, a Certificate of Excellence, a medal, and a cash prize. Recognized under the Top Scorers of GO4Youth – State/UT category, he proudly represented Nagaland University on the national platform.

Prof. J.K. Patnaik, Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University, extended heartfelt congratulations to Shisak Sharma and praised his research supervisor, Prof. Dipak Sinha, along with the Department of Chemistry for their dedication to academic excellence and environmental responsibility.

The GO4Youth Green Olympiad is a national interdisciplinary initiative targeting students aged 18–30 enrolled in higher education institutions across India. Supported by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and endorsed by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and the Ministry of Education (MoE), the Olympiad evaluates participants on a range of critical environmental issues including climate change, pollution, waste management, sanitation, biodiversity, and sustainable development. It is closely aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to promote environmental literacy and responsible citizenship.

In recognition of his achievement, Shisak was invited to the GO4Youth Prize Distribution Ceremony held on April 22, 2025 (Earth Day) in New Delhi, where top performers from across India were celebrated. The event highlighted the pivotal role of youth in shaping a sustainable future.

Participation in GO4Youth opens doors to prestigious opportunities such as membership in TERI’s Youth Network, internships at TERI, and the development of a robust environmental portfolio, enhancing both career and research prospects in sustainability and environmental sciences.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for Nagaland University, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing socially responsible and environmentally conscious scholars.
