Nagaland University Hosts First-Ever Research Conclave, Fostering Multidisciplinary Collaboration and Innovation
Lumami : Nagaland University’s inaugural Research Conclave commenced with a vibrant opening ceremony at I. Ihoshe Kinimi Hall, Lumami. The event, a collaborative initiative of the University’s NEP Cell, IQAC, and the Nagaland University Research Scholars Forum (Lumami), marked a pivotal step in promoting multidisciplinary learning and collaboration among 140 scholars and faculty from diverse academic fields.
The programme was chaired by Dr Viheno Iralu, Assistant Professor at the Centre of Biodiversity, who warmly welcomed delegates and outlined the objectives of the conclave. Dr Latonglila Jamir, Assistant Director of IQAC and organizing secretary, emphasized the conclave’s role in fostering scholarly growth and innovation.

- Prof Dipak Sinha, Nodal Officer of NEP, articulated the vision behind the conclave, underscoring the need for multidisciplinary collaboration without diluting the uniqueness of individual disciplines. He also detailed practical aspects, including mentorship opportunities and guidance on publications and scholarships.
- Prof. Temjensosang, Director of the Research Development Cell, connected the NEP’s principles to ancient Indian education systems, advocating for holistic and skill-based learning while highlighting the benefits of multidisciplinary approaches.
Prof Jagadish K Patnaik, Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University, delivered an inspiring address on the differences between multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary approaches. Sharing his research experiences, he urged scholars to embrace flexibility and pursue meaningful contributions to knowledge, assuring institutional support for resources and academic development.
A Celebration of Culture and Academia:
Adding a cultural touch, Chubamenla, a Research Scholar from the Department of Geography, presented a captivating performance, blending artistic expression with the academic ethos of the conclave.
