Youth from Kashmir and Haryana Act as Ambassadors of National Unity and Cultural Harmony – Prof. Somnath Sachdeva

Under the Haryana Government’s Youth Welfare Programme, a special delegation of 30 talented students from Jammu and Kashmir visited Kurukshetra University on Thursday, symbolising national unity, cultural harmony, and shared heritage.
Upon their arrival, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Somnath Sachdeva, who interacted warmly with the students and highlighted the importance of national integration and cultural exchange.

Addressing the delegation, Prof. Sachdeva said that India’s true strength lies in its diversity and shared cultural heritage. He described the youth of Kashmir and Haryana as ambassadors of unity, diversity, and cultural richness, stating that interaction among young people from different regions strengthens the spirit of national integration.
“The purpose of such visits is to deepen mutual understanding, promote cultural exchange, and reinforce the values of nationalism and collective identity,” he said, adding that Kurukshetra University always welcomes initiatives that inspire youth to actively participate in nation-building.
As part of the programme, the visiting students were introduced to Haryana’s culture, traditions, and historical heritage under the “Haryana Darshan” initiative. The visit served as a platform to convey messages of brotherhood, cultural harmony, and national unity within the university campus.
Youth Welfare Coordinator, CM House (CM Grievance Cell), Narendra Singh, informed that during their stay, the students from Jammu and Kashmir are also visiting major historical, administrative, and cultural landmarks of Haryana. He emphasized that such exposure enables students to understand the educational environment, administrative systems, and cultural fabric of the region.
The delegation comprised 30 students, including 15 female students, 10 male students, and a five-member management team. The students expressed their gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for his interaction and guidance.
Senior university officials present on the occasion included Registrar Lt. Prof. Virender Pal, Dean of Students’ Welfare Prof. A.R. Chaudhary, Dr. Madhudeep Singh, Dr. Abid Ali, and Roma.
