IUST held Community Outreach on "Renewable Energy for a Sustainable Future"

Jammu-Kashmir / Awantipora : Department of Physics, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) under the aegis of Community Connect, Dean of Outreach organized a one-day program on the theme ‘Renewable Energy for a Sustainable Future’. Students from different schools and colleges, as well as members of the local community attended. The main aim of the event was to raise awareness about renewable energy technologies and their significance in combating climate change, and necessity to go green and adopt sustainable practices and thereby contribute to the global environmental goals.

Dr. Abid Hussain Shalla, Dean School of Sciences, stressed on the urgent need of transition to renewable energy sources for a sustainable future. Dr. Mir Hashim Rasool, Head Department of Physics, inaugurated the program and highlighted IUST’s role in promoting sustainable energy solutions. Ms. Shaiqa Nasreen, University Community Connect Coordinator, urged the participants, as future leaders and change makers, to recognize global challenges and think innovatively about solutions to pressing issues.

Specialized sessions by experts were also held, followed by an educational tour of IUST’s Design and Innovation Centre and Solar Parks at Campus I and II, showcasing the university’s solar energy initiatives for sustainability. The program underscores IUST’s commitment to fostering awareness about renewable energy and encouraging collaborative efforts towards building a sustainable future.
