IIT Mandi Celebrates Gita Jayanti with ‘Gitanushilanam 2025’
Mandi, 10 December 2025 :
IIT Mandi marked Gita Jayanti with the grand celebration of ‘Gitanushilanam 2025’, organised by the IKSMHA Centre in collaboration with Learn Gita Live Gita. The month-long event witnessed the participation of 5,000+ students from over 25 schools and colleges across Mandi and nearby regions.
Participants engaged in shloka recitation, essay writing, art, and quiz competitions. The programme culminated with a chorus recitation of the Bhagavad Gita, creating a deeply devotional atmosphere.

IIT Mandi Director Prof. Laxmidhar Behera hailed the Gita as “the soul of India,” emphasising its role in addressing issues like drug abuse, suicides, and mental health challenges in Himachal Pradesh.
DIG Soumya Sambasivan and Vice-Chancellor Lalit Kumar Awasthi praised IIT Mandi’s efforts in promoting spiritual and value-based education among youth.
The celebrations featured cultural performances including Natti Folk Dance, Mandav Nagri Nrutya, Yoga Dance, and a shadow drama based on Gita teachings. Winners of competitions received copies of the Bhagavad Gita.
Organisers stated that Gitanushilanam aims to help young minds experience the Gita as a living science that fosters clarity, resilience, and ethical leadership.
