IKGPTU Tributes Paid to Swami Vivekananda

I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) celebrated National Youth Day with great enthusiasm by organizing a “Run for Swadeshi” race, paying heartfelt tributes to Swami Vivekananda Ji, the iconic youth leader and philosopher of India.
The event was held under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal and witnessed enthusiastic participation from the faculty members, staff, and students of the University. The race was flagged off by Dean (R&D) Prof. (Dr.) Praveen Bansal and Registrar Dr. Navdeepak Sandhu. Participants covered a 2-kilometre route within the University’s main campus.
The programme was jointly organized by the Department of Students’ Welfare, NSS, and Cultural Wing of the University. Dr. Satvir Singh, Dean Students’ Welfare, coordinated and supervised the entire event.
Tribute to Swami Vivekananda Ji
Prior to the race, a tribute session dedicated to Swami Vivekananda Ji was organized. Welcoming the gathering, Dr. Satvir Singh highlighted that Swami Vivekananda was born on January 12, 1863, and emphasized that the future of the nation lies in the vision, character, and strength of its youth.
Addressing the audience, Dean (R&D) Prof. (Dr.) Praveen Bansal stated that National Youth Day is celebrated every year on January 12 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and to inspire young minds with his thoughts, ideals, and philosophy of self-confidence, nationalism, and service.
Registrar Dr. Navdeepak Sandhu offered floral tributes to Swami Vivekananda Ji on behalf of the University and encouraged students to follow his teachings. He remarked that Swami Vivekananda firmly believed that youth power is the driving force behind positive social transformation, and to honor this vision, the Government of India has declared his birth anniversary as National Youth Day.

The event was attended by Dean Academics Prof. (Dr.) Yadwinder Singh Brar, Deputy Registrar Dinesh Juneja, Rajneesh Sharma, NSS Coordinator Prof. (Dr.) Chandra Prakash, Assistant Director Sumeer Sharma, along with other faculty members, officers, and students.
The celebration reinforced IKGPTU’s commitment to nurturing responsible, disciplined, and nation-building youth, inspired by the timeless ideals of Swami Vivekananda.
