Guru Gobind Singh Medical College Honored as the Top Performing Blood Center in Punjab


Faridkot : Guru Gobind Singh Medical College & Hospital, Faridkot, has been awarded the prestigious title of Top Performing Blood Center by the Punjab State Blood Transfusion Council (PSBTC) for its outstanding contribution to blood collection, Voluntary Blood Donation (VBD) camps, and the preparation of blood components, significantly upscaling blood transfusion services during 2023-24.

The award was presented by Dr Balbir Singh, Health Minister of Punjab, at the State Level Event celebrating National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on October 10, 2024, in Patiala. Representing the institution, the award was received by Dr Neetu Kukar, Professor and Head of the Department, along with Dr Anjali Handa (Assistant Professor, IHBT), Dr Navreet Singh (Assistant Professor, IHBT), Counselor Vijata Rani, and Lab Technician Vijay Kumar.

This recognition highlights the institution’s continued commitment to promoting voluntary blood donation and ensuring the availability of safe and high-quality blood transfusion services across Punjab. The dedicated efforts of the hospital’s team and volunteers have greatly contributed to meeting the blood needs of patients and saving countless lives.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Neetu Kukar expressed her gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the vital role of voluntary blood donors and the importance of collective efforts in strengthening healthcare services. The hospital remains committed to expanding its blood donation initiatives in the future.

The Punjab State Blood Transfusion Council commended the institution’s leadership in organizing numerous VBD camps and its contribution to the state’s healthcare sector.
