Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot Celebrates 51st Establishment Day
Faridkot : On the eve of 51st Establishment Day of Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot, Medical college jatha organized Shri Akhand Paath Sahib for 3 consecutive days from 20/11/2024 to 22/11/2024. Guru Gobind Singh Medical College was established at Faridkot in 1973. After that Government of Punjab took over the management of this college in 1978 under “The Punjab Guru Gobind Singh Medical, College Faridkot (Acquisition) and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 32 of 1978”. In 2006, Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot became the constituent college of Baba Farid university of Health Sciences.
This tradition of annual Shri Akhand Paath Sahib at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College campus is going on for last 37 years. The beauty of this function is that, MBBS students of this college clean and decorate the venue from the core of their heart. It is worth mentioning that all put their hands together through out the day and night to beautifully decorate the college premises and prepare the langar by their own hands. This gives them enough confidence and make them psychologically and spiritually strong and enhance their morale.
On the completion of shri akhand paath sahib, hazoori raagi bhai Amandeep singh ji from Sachkhand shri Harmandir sahib, Amritsar along with MBBS students recited divine Gurbani kirtan. After ardaas ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rajeev Sood addressed the sangat about life and teachings of Guru Gobind Singh ji. He also said that if we adopt even 1% teachings of Guru sahib ji in our life then we can excel in every aspect of our life. MLA Faridkot Sardar Gurdit Singh Sekhon also addressed and encouraged the students for continuing organizing such events in the future. Medical College Jatha President Dr Amanpreet Singh Sethi and Principal Dr Sanjay Gupta concluded the event by congratulating the students for their meticulous planning and hard work.
On this occasion University dean Dr Deepak John Bhatti, Controller of examination Dr Rajiv Joshi, Medical Superintendent Dr Neetu Kukkar, Vice Principal Dr Sarita and Vice Principal Dental college Dr Jasbir Kaur, Assistant Registrar Dr Rohit Chopra, Vice President Medical Jatha Dr Sukhraj Singh Sandhu and liason officer fateh deep Singh maan were also present.
