Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Honoured with National Awards at NAVS Convocation
Ludhiana, 13th March 2025 : Faculty members from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) were recently honoured with prestigious awards at the XXII Convocation cum National Scientific Convention held by the National Academy of Veterinary Sciences (NAVS) at the Veterinary College in Bengaluru.
Dr. B.K. Bansal, Former Dean of the College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul, was awarded the Dr. K.K. Baxi Outstanding Scientist Award in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the field of veterinary sciences. Dr. R.S. Sethi, Additional Director of Research, and Dr. H.S. Banga, Former Registrar of GADVASU, were honoured with the esteemed NAVS Fellowships for their remarkable achievements and dedication to the advancement of veterinary research and education. Additionally, Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Head of the Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education, received the Dr. R.K. Sharma Memorial Award for his outstanding work in the field of Veterinary Extension Education.
The event, which saw significant participation from experts in the field, was graced by Sh. K. Venkatesh, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Sericulture, Government of Karnataka, who was the Chief Guest.
Other GADVASU faculty members, including Dr. Randhir Singh, Dr. Vishal Mahajan, Dr. Rajesh Wagh, Dr. Chandra Sekhar Mukhopadhay, and Dr. Vikrant Sudan, were awarded the NAVS Associate Fellowship and membership, after demonstrating significant achievements and contributions in veterinary sciences.
Dr. L.D. Singla, Director of Human Resource Management (HRM) at GADVASU and Editor of NAVS, also played a key role in the event by releasing the latest issue of the NAVS Newsletter. Dr. Neelam Bansal attended as an Executive Member.
Dr. Jatinder Paul Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor of GADVASU, extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the awardees and participants, expressing pride in their remarkable achievements. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering excellence in the field of veterinary sciences.
Dr. Swaran Singh Randhawa, Dean of the College of Veterinary Science, praised the awardees for their dedication and hard work, emphasizing their contributions to elevating the university’s reputation in the national and international academic community.
