E-Content Essential for Quality Education in the Digital Era – Abhijit Redekar

E-content has become indispensable for ensuring quality education in the digital age, stated Mr. Abhijit Redekar, Director of the Department of Computer Science, Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
He was speaking as the chief resource person at the inauguration of a two-day workshop on “Design and Development of E-Content for Online Learning and MOOCs”, organised under the PM–Usha scheme. The workshop was jointly conducted by the Centre for Distance and Online Education and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Shivaji University. The programme was presided over by Prof. Dr. Ajay Sali, Dean of the Multidisciplinary Faculty.

Mr. Redekar emphasised that every teacher and student must acquire e-content development skills in today’s academic environment. He noted that technological literacy has become a basic necessity, and active participation on platforms such as SWAYAM and Maha-SWAYAM is crucial. Digital education is transforming traditional teaching–learning concepts, and student-centric e-content creation has emerged as a pressing need of the time, he added.
In his presidential address, Prof. Dr. Ajay Sali remarked that the future of education may no longer be confined to physical classrooms. “The younger generation is rapidly adapting to digital learning, and therefore, creating effective, impactful, and high-quality e-content is extremely important,” he said.
During the first technical session, Mr. Bhushan Kulkarni, Trainer from Knowledge Bridge Foundation, Ahilyanagar, highlighted that students must use technology effectively for learning. Understanding digital tools and handling them skillfully has become a key educational requirement in the present era.
The programme introduction was delivered by Dr. Nitin Randive. Nazia Mullani introduced the guests, Dr. Nagina Mali anchored the event, and Sandeep Thite proposed the vote of thanks.
The workshop witnessed the presence of Deputy Registrar Vinay Shinde, Prof. Dr. Nitin Mali, Dr. Changdev Bandgar, Dr. Suryakant Gaikwad, Dr. Ram Chatte, Prof. Kanchan Kharade, Dr. Pramod Koli, Dr. Kishor Khillare, Dr. Karim Mulla, Dr. Rohini Bhosale, along with a large number of teachers and students.
