Central University of Odisha Observes National Youth Day with Run for Swadeshi

The Central University of Odisha (CUO) observed National Youth Day 2026 on January 12 at its campus to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The celebrations featured a Run for Swadeshi and the live streaming of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s address delivered during the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue.
The programme began with the inauguration of the Run for Swadeshi by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor (I/c.), Prof. N. C. Panda, who offered floral tributes to Swami Vivekananda. Addressing the CUO fraternity, Prof. Panda urged students and faculty members to imbibe and practise the ideals of Swami Vivekananda in their daily lives. He also recited some of Swamiji’s renowned quotes, inspiring the youth to contribute meaningfully to nation-building.

The Vice-Chancellor led the run, which commenced from the New Academic Block, witnessing enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students, reflecting the spirit of Swadeshi, fitness, and youth empowerment.

Following the run, members of the University community gathered to witness the live streaming of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address at the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue, which emphasized the role of youth in shaping a developed India.
On the occasion, Registrar (I/c.) Dr. Rakesh Kumar Lenka, Finance Officer Mr. Duryodhan Sethy, Head, Department of Economics Prof. Rathikant Kumbhar, along with faculty members and students, actively participated in the programme. The event was coordinated by Dr. Ramendra Kumar Parhi, Dean of Students’ Welfare, and Dr. Anjeneyullu Thotapally. Dr. Phagunath Bhoi, Public Relations Officer, delivered the vote of thanks.
