India is known for its rich linguistic diversity; however, the uneven development of scientific and technical terminology across Indian languages has long posed challenges in education, research, translation, and effective knowledge dissemination. While Hindi, Odia, and Sanskrit possess extensive lexical and literary traditions, the lack of uniform and standardised technical vocabulary has limited their wider use in modern scientific and technological discourse.

In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which strongly advocates the promotion of science and technology education in Indian languages, the workshop aims to create a coordinated, accessible, and standard framework of scientific and technical terminology for broader academic adoption.

The programme will focus on a comparative study of lexical resources in Hindi, Odia, and Sanskrit and explore systematic approaches for developing commonly accepted terminology suitable for teaching, research, and scholarly communication.

Several eminent scholars and experts in language and technology, including Prof. R. S. Sarraju, Prof. Satya Narayan Panda, Dr. Konkimalla Giridhar Rao, Shri Hariram Pansari, Shri Surendra Samal, and Shri Pradeep Kumar Sahu, will participate in detailed academic deliberations and discussions during the workshop.

Established in 2009 by an Act of Parliament, the Central University of Odisha is located in the scenic Koraput Valley and currently comprises 20 academic departments offering undergraduate, postgraduate, integrated, and research programmes. The Department of Hindi, established in 2015, has been actively involved in teaching, research, and the promotion of Indian languages, literature, and cultural initiatives.
