UttarPradesh / Varanasi : On December 11, 2024, the “Indian Language Festival” was grandly organized at the Institute of Management Studies, Banaras Hindu University (BHU). This event was held under the initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, with the primary aim of highlighting the role of Indian languages in cultural coordination. The program commenced with a theme inspired by the teachings of great thinkers like Swami Vivekananda and Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, focusing on “Fundamental Expression and Mother Tongue.” Speakers emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting our mother tongues and regional languages to understand the relevance of diversity.

Key highlights of the festival included poetry readings and shayari, where several renowned poets and lyricists expressed the significance of linguistic diversity. Participants showcased folk songs from various states and presented performances in regional languages, while the depth of Indian music was illustrated through ghazals. Speakers also stressed that educating children in local dialects can connect them to their cultural roots. Additionally, educators discussed the need to promote the use of local languages in education and administration.

The main objective of this festival was to underscore the importance of linguistic diversity. The “Indian Language Festival” conveyed to all participants that preserving and promoting mother tongues and regional languages is our responsibility. By emphasizing the use of local languages in education, this event aimed to enhance respect and awareness for Indian languages.

The program was attended by Director Ashish Bajpai, Dr. Shashi Srivastava, Dr. Vishal Lahiri, and Dr. Ram Shankar Uraon. The participation of all attendees, speakers, and audience members contributed significantly to the success of this event
