BHU’s Dr. Jay Prakash Verma to Present Research at International Phytobiome Conference 2024 in USA
Varanasi : Dr. Jay Prakash Verma, Associate Professor at the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, has been invited to present his research paper at the prestigious International Phytobiome Conference 2024. The conference is being held from November 19-21, 2024, at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
The topic of Dr. Verma’s research paper is “Harnessing Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) Microbiome to Develop a Potential Microbial Consortium for Enhancing Its Sustainable Productivity.” The paper aims to isolate, screen, and molecularly characterize chickpea seed endophytes to develop an effective microbial inoculum that enhances plant growth, yield, nutritional content, and soil fertility. The microbial consortium works as a “plant booster dose,” improving plant immunity and productivity.
The International Phytobiome Conference is a significant platform for Plant-Microbe Interaction Research, with experts from over 15 countries, including scientists, researchers, and industry partners, coming together to discuss new approaches for sustainable crop productivity. Dr. Verma’s participation will not only showcase the innovative research being conducted at BHU but also provide an opportunity for greater collaboration with leading researchers and scientists in the field of phytobiomes and microbiology.
Through this international collaboration, Dr. Verma aims to strengthen his research network and explore future possibilities for advancing sustainable agricultural practices globally.
