Assam Skill University Hosts Training Session on “Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) at Workplace Act, 2013”
Guwahati : Assam Skill University (ASU) conducted a training session on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) at Workplace Act, 2013, on March 29, 2025, at its City Campus in Guwahati. The event was graced by the presence of Professor Manoj Kumar Deka, Academic Head of ASU; Professor Anil Borah, HOD of Department of Mechanical, ASU; Mousumi Sen, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for Placement & Training, ASU; along with other faculty and staff members of the university. The session was expertly facilitated by Anurita Pathak Hazarika, Executive Director and State Coordinator of North East Network (NEN).




In her welcome address, Mousumi Sen underscored the importance of fostering inclusivity and empowering women in key roles at Assam Skill University. She noted that the PoSH session would enhance awareness and vigilance, contributing to a safe and supportive environment within the institution.
Professor Manoj Kumar Deka emphasized the need for conducting sessions like PoSH consistently to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the Act and to promote widespread awareness. Similarly, Professor Anil Borah highlighted the value of such training programs in reinforcing the commitment to a safe and inclusive workplace for all.
Anurita Pathak Hazarika provided an in-depth explanation of the PoSH Act, tracing its origins and illustrating its provisions through real-world examples of sexual harassment scenarios. She elaborated on the inquiry procedures and the critical role of the Internal Committee, while also addressing the impact of sexual harassment on affected women through a gender-sensitive perspective.
The session saw active participation from 32 attendees, including faculty and staff members of Assam Skill University. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Kashyap Mahanta, Deputy Controller of Examinations, Assam Skill University.
