Workshop on Electromyographical & Bio-Mechanical Research Activities Held at BHU

Uttar Pradesh / Varanasi : The Department of Physical Education, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, started a two-day workshop on *”Electromyographical & Bio-Mechanical Research Activities in Physical Education & Allied Sports” (EBMRAPEAS 2024)* on November 16, 2024. The workshop aims to provide a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical exposure in the fields of biomechanics and electromyography, essential for research in sports science and physical education.

The program began with a flag hoisting ceremony, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, and the gathering by BHU kulgeet which infused a patriotic spirit among all present. The inaugural session was graced by Brigadier Kulbir Singh, Head of NCC, Eastern command Uttar Pradesh, as the Chief Guest, who lauded the initiative and emphasized the role of science and technology in advancing athletic performance. Prof. M.S. Pandey, Dean, Faculty of Arts, BHU, attended as the Guest of Honour and highlighted the interdisciplinary nature of sports science in modern education.

A highlight of the first day was the hands-on practical session taken by Deepak pal and anjan tiwari which offered participants immersive training in advanced tools and methodologies. The session on “Practical Training on EMG Techniques” allowed participants to explore innovative ways to analyze muscle activation and movement patterns. The workshop is being organized under the able leadership of Prof. Vikram Singh (HOD, dept. Of physical education) serving as Director & prof. T.O. Reddy served as organising secretary and Dr. Pradeep Singh Chahar as Treasurer, ensuring smooth coordination and execution of the event.

Faculty members, including Prof. Sushma Ghildyal, Prof. B.C. Kapri, Prof. Rajiv Vyas, Dr. Akhil Mehrotra, Dr. Binayak Kumar Dubey, Dr. Krishnakant, Dr. Deepak Kumar Dogra, Dr. Abhishek Verma, and Dr. Shailesh Kumar marked their esteemed presence.

The workshop, supported by SRICC BHU and sponsored by pukhya pvt. Ltd. (Delhi) & Khel sahitya Kendra will continue on November 17, 2024, with more engaging sessions and practical demonstrations. EBMRAPEAS 2024 is being hailed as a transformative initiative to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world applications in sports science.
