Veer Narmad South Gujarat University Host Program on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s 67th Death Anniversary
Gujrat/ Surat : On the occasion of the 67th death anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, a solemn tribute program was held at Veer Narmad South Gujarat University. The event, organized in the university’s main administrative auditorium at 11:00 AM, was presided over by Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Kishore Singh N. Chavda. Around 100 academic and administrative staff gathered to pay homage to the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and a champion of social justice.
In his address, Dr. Kishore Singh N. Chavda announced that the upcoming Youth Festival will feature Babasaheb Ambedkar as its central theme. He emphasized the importance of highlighting Dr. Ambedkar’s life, works, and values through innovative methods such as research publications, videos, and reels to engage the younger generation. He urged faculty members to encourage students to contribute to this initiative.
Reflecting on Babasaheb’s Legacy
General Secretary Dr. Rameshdan Garhvi delivered a comprehensive speech on Dr. Ambedkar’s remarkable contributions to society, including his relentless efforts for social reform and his pivotal role in drafting the Indian Constitution. Dr. Garhvi also reminisced about the global recognition bestowed upon Dr. Ambedkar, particularly by institutions like Columbia University.
Dr. Kishore Chikhlia, SC Standing Committee Member, elaborated on Dr. Ambedkar’s vision for a progressive and equitable India. He highlighted Ambedkar’s instrumental role in establishing the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and his enduring contributions to constitutional development.
Dr. Hinaben Makwana, another SC Standing Committee Member, provided a philosophical perspective on the term “Mahaparinirvana,” describing it as the ultimate liberation from suffering, as inspired by Buddhist tradition. She discussed how Babasaheb’s vision for equality, fraternity, and social justice resonates in today’s world. Her speech included a special emphasis on Ambedkar’s advocacy for women’s rights and his emphasis on fraternity in the Indian Constitution. Dr. Makwana concluded her speech by reading the Preamble of the Constitution, which the participants reaffirmed together.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks and closing remarks by Dr. Barot, a member of the SC Standing Committee, who also managed the event seamlessly.
The tribute program served as a heartfelt homage to Dr. Ambedkar’s enduring legacy, reinforcing his ideals of justice, equality, and fraternity in modern times.
